This is the first time that a federal ministry has brought together all stages of education. In an interview with the editors of weiter bilden Prof. Josef Schrader und Dr. Peter Brandt, Karin Prien reports on the new opportunities this offers for adult and continuing education, and for basic education in particular.
With regard to the new federal-state initiative to promote basic education for adults, the Federal Minister emphasises the need to motivate adults with low literacy skills even more strongly to participate in continuing education programmes and to strengthen the structures of basic education. She reports on how the qualification of continuing education mentors can help to promote motivation and reduce inhibitions, and what prospects the further expansion and standardisation of partial qualifications open up. The promotion of digital skills and the new priorities aimed at better combining educational research and practical effectiveness are also part of the interview.
Das gesamte Interview steht in der neuen Ausgabe der weiter bilden, „Grundbildung und Grundkompetenzen“, auf der Publikationsseite des Deutschen Instituts für Erwachsenenbildung im Open Access zur Verfügung.
