Service

The service-oriented support provided by the Competence Centre for joint projects is tailored to needs and dialogue. With the aim of strengthening key areas of activity such as basic education counselling and network coordination, the Competence Centre also tests and evaluates professional development programmes.

Process support and exchange formats

The Competence Centre supports projects throughout the development and testing of basic education pathways. It offers individual advice and organises networking and exchange opportunities that allow projects to share ideas and learn from each other. In the workshop discussions on impact orientation, the projects receive methodological and content-related support in developing individual impact logics. In the dialogue forum, the focus is on research-based process support.

Professionalisation services

Clear contact points and strong coordination structures ensure that basic education services remain sustainable and provide long-term support for people with basic education needs. For this reason, the Competence Centre develops, tests and evaluates professional development programmes covering basic information on literacy and education, as well as the two key areas of basic education counselling and network coordination involving shared responsibility.

Focus: Network coordination

Network coordinators play a key role in increasing the participation of people with basic education needs in learning programmes. They coordinate collaboration between various stakeholders, contribute to developing structural solutions, and ensure networks can grow while maintaining quality.

Focus: Basic education counselling

People with basic education needs often struggle to find suitable learning opportunities and make informed educational decisions. Qualified basic education counsellors help them overcome initial barriers and choose paths that support their long-term goals. By supporting them in searching for suitable offers and follow-up solutions, counsellors can significantly contribute to preventing students from dropping out of education.

The professional development offerings combine individual self-learning phases in the EULE-learning area on wb-web with digital and in-person, reflection events. After the project ends, all interested parties will have access to the learning paths in the EULE-learning area.

The first round of professional development courses took place between September and November 2025. The second round will start in autumn 2026. You can get an overview of the main content of the training course and all the information about the schedule and programme in the digital information event on 19 May 2026, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Click here to register.

The following interview with Dr. Nicole Pöppel offers practical insights into the development and implementation of the professional development courses.
